Sony a230

Sony a230

There’s nothing we hate more than paying shipping (maybe sales tax), on items we purchase on-line.  We’re constantly looking for special deals, and typically find them particularly on electronics like the new Sony a230.

The reviews for this product have already been stellar on cnet.com and other major review sites so for us it comes down to price, service and responsiveness of the dealer.  We found the best cost/service ratio at a dealer out of Indianapolis.

Making Money in a Down Market

Our country is heading toward recession. The housing market is in far more than a “slump” and credit is very difficult to come by. We’ve heard of numerous real estate deals recently that were based on hard money, which means private investors put up the cash for a higher rate and typically these loans are due in 2-3 years.

So what do you do when you lose your job or your mortgage payment goes up drastically in just a matter of months? Maybe it’s time to pick up a good motivational business book. Now Donald Trump might not be liked by all but we really enjoyed reading his newest book Think Big and Kick Ass in Business and in Life. There are many keys in this book but the ones that really stuck with us were to stay positive and to keep moving forward no matter what. There was a time when he almost lost it all but stuck with it and is more successful than ever today. This was all due to a positive attitude and persistence among other traits. One piece of advice Donald had when things got tough was to start a business.

There are infinite ideas out there for starting a business, many of which involve a desire to work from home. So which direction do you take. We recently spoke with our neighbors who have been involved in their
own business for about a year and a half.
This business involves the travel industry and
of course sales. To make money you have to
sell something whether it be a good or a service
so ultimately with this model people have to pay
for vacations, although there are other interesting opportunities like getting money back for joining a golf club and huge discounts on your personal travel.

Recently we read an article in the Network Marketing Business Journal, which is The International Trade Publication for Network & Multi-level Marketing. This article states “YTB is a top-35 U.S. travel seller, set to sell $1 billion of travel in 2008″. Be sure to read the Full Article.

You can read more about their business at www.paycationtravel.biz, which includes a demo video. We have heard from many happy people who have worked with or for them over the past year and we’ve read even more online about the larger corporation. This couple seem to love what they do and they’re quite good at it too!

This might be the time to give www.paycationtravel.biz a try but the best way to find out is to talk with the local owners by phone or meet them in person. Beyond making money there are numerous indirect benefits for you and your family.

Your Local Verizon Store..The Independent Franchise

Inside Business

We’ve always been big fans of Verizon wireless (not be be confused with Verizon land line service). They’ll be the first ones to tell you they’re somehow not connected even though they have the same name.

We’re believers in “the network”, the service has always been great and only on a very rare occasion has a call been dropped (typically inside a parking garage).

Recently I spoke with the manager of a Verizon store in Rancho who proceeded to provide me with the best customer service I’ve ever had. She had a genuine interest in saving me money and making sure I was happy with not only the service but my device.

At the time, I had no idea this location was an independently owned franchise and not a corporate store nor did I know the difference until I began to interact with the employees. The difference is they (the employees and management) have a genuine interest in making sure you are happy with your service and your device.

They have literally spent several hours over the course of a couple weeks helping me with my services, which include 2 phone accounts and a wireless data account for my laptop, which I desperately needed for my business. I came out of the store feeling completely informed about what to expect with the services and the hardware.

In contrast, my most recent experience with 2 different corporate stores (when telling them my phone was malfunctioning) was “we’re sorry, there’s nothing we can do”. That statement is business 101, never tell your customer there’s nothing you can do. To make matters worse, my phone was only out of warranty by 3 weeks and they still refused to even help me with it. AND this was after the salesperson had specifically told me that my model had a known problem.

Fortunately, the Verizon independent franchise in Upland made things right, I’ll never go anywhere else.

Verizon is now offering $99/mo. unlimited calling. This includes long distance and calls to any line regardless of carrier. Line 2 would be another $99 then it’s $9 for each additional line. This is a great deal for families or business owners with a sales team.

We even discussed some of the new phones and pda’s coming out from Verizon and how they are opening up the new “any apps, any device” option later this year. Basically, this means you should be able to use any piece of mobile hardware out there with Verizon’s service. The Voyager from Verizon might be the most intuitive phone I’ve used, particularly with its qwerty keyboard (that’s a mini button keyboard). The citizens we met who have this phone love it.

This Verizon franchise is located at the Colonies Crossroads shopping center (which can be seen from the 210 freeway at Campus). Contact Lisa Richter: TEL: (909) 920-0409
